Founder & Executive Director: Renee Allen-Maisonet

Renee Allen-Maisonet is the Founder and Executive Director of The BIPOC Outdoor Collective (The BOC), a nonprofit established in 2024. A former media executive, Renee’s life was transformed more than 15 years ago by a single camping trip—an experience that ignited a lifelong mission to help more people of color discover, or in many cases rediscover, the joy of outdoor recreation and the importance of conservation.

Under her leadership, The BOC works to create safe, inclusive, and empowering experiences for communities who have historically been disconnected from outdoor recreational spaces. Renee is deeply committed to changing the narrative—ensuring that everyone feels a sense of belonging in nature.

The BIPOC Outdoor Collective is leading a movement to reconnect people of color to outdoor spaces and conservation—not as newcomers, but as those with a deep and ancestral connection to the land and water. For generations, Black and Brown communities have cultivated, fished, farmed, and cared for these lands—yet their stories and presence have too often been excluded from the broader outdoor narrative.

Renee believes that through collective efforts, we, collectively can help restore that connection, expand representation, and build a truly inclusive outdoor community—one where everyone sees themselves reflected, welcomed, and valued.

Renee resides in Metro Atlanta with her husband. She is the proud mother of three adult sons and “Nana” to seven wonderfully outdoor-curious grandchildren.
